Dare To Be Free

Dare To Be Free is a World War Two escape story. Kiwi Lieutenant Sandy Thomas was severely wounded and captured during the batttle for Crete. His incredible adventures and eventual escape make an unbelievable story. Even more unbelievable perhaps is his later career in the British Army. He rose to the rank of Major General and commanded the entire South East Asian Land Forces before retiring.

Director, John Hagen. The documentary was produced by Gary Scott for the Gibson Group. It was screened on TVNZ's TVOne as part of Anzac Day commemorations. This documentary was the third highest rating television programme (including all genres - drama, sports events...) in 2004.
